Actually all four are sewn now but this is a pic of one. It’s going to be a small cuddle-up-and-read-a-book quilt. That’s all I can do with 1 charm pack of Cherish Nature by Deb Strain for Moda Fabrics . I want to assemble it in an asymmetrical style. Maybe the four main blocks (with [...]

I am a very simple person. I believe in living a simple life style so others can simply live. . . but I have a nemesis . . . “Hi, I’m Robyn and I am a Gadget addict, a Techie and a computer snob. {Macs rule}” My confession will help you understand my dilemma. I [...]

I am known to be easily bored, distracted, sidetra….OOooo look at that pretty… yeah, well I love making the hexagons but I needed a break. I made a needle case with a little pincushion on top. The pincushion part was made by stuffing the smallest hex with some wool roving. Again I apologize for camera [...]

I bought a bag of Dresden quilt blocks several years ago at an estate sale. They are pieced with fabrics from the 1930s and 40s…I think. None of them have the center circle applique yet and they are the pointy blade kind not the rounded flowery kind. Some of the blocks look to have water [...]

After Beast-of-a-Son’s unfortunate window nose plant I got some nasty bronchitis. Isn’t all bad. I could sit and rest and stay on the Hexagon bandwagon. There are so many great tutorials out there. I will list the ones I used later today … or soonish. Believe me I have lotsa pics. This is from my [...]

Oh no! Maybe it is quilt voodoo. Someone is sticking their glass head fine gauge quilting pins into my cotton head! More later. For now, I and my “fever” need a day of rest.

So… I told you of my ignorance and the official Coffee & Cotton SBTSOMP Method in my previous post. I took my improper assemblage of string piecing and made what any strong, able and determined woman would make…. drumroll………. Voilà! A Potholder! Eh, I know, no biggy, but it still makes me happy.

…and it makes me happy! I have been admiring String Quilts. Ignorance moment #1 I thought the method of making them was called Strip Piecing. Told Mr. Coffee that I was strip piecing. He found that intriguing and had all sorts of comments. Geesh. Ignorance moment #2 I with giddiness grabbed my strips of fabric [...]
