Do Good {do justly, love mercy, walk humbly}

Handmade by Alissa is doing a wonderful thing for a wonderful organization.
This is a fundraiser for Action Kivu, an organization in eastern Congo that runs a sewing workshop for victims of the conflict there. The conflict in Congo has taken the lives of over 5.4 million people since 1998. Rape is used as a weapon of war, with estimates putting the number of rapes in the hundreds of thousands. { text from Handmade by Alissa website}

Action Kivu provides Eastern Congo’s victims of violence with the opportunity to rebuild their lives on a foundation of hope, dignity, and economic self-sustenance. {text from the Action Kivu website}

There are some giveaways connected to donations but I don’t think that is the meaningful part.
I take social justice, compassion and mercy seriously.
I hope you will take time to visit the sites I linked to and participate in some way.

Haiti – How YOU can Help

My heart is breaking for the people of Haiti. I want to help. Of course they have my prayers but I want to be able to tangibly help. This tragedy certainly puts my own struggles in perspective. Although finances and employment for my own family are tough right now––I have food. I have a roof over my head and all my family is safe.
The Pioneer Woman is giving a very generous offer at her blog. A Different Kind of Giveaway. Just leave a comment on that page and she will draw a “winner”. That winner will receive two (2) $500 donations to the Haitian-related charity of the winners’ choice.
Please, go, leave a comment. She also will donate one dime (10 cents) for every entry received in this giveaway to Haitian recovery efforts.
Thank you Pioneer Woman!
