I bought a bag of Dresden quilt blocks several years ago at an estate sale. They are pieced with fabrics from the 1930s and 40s…I think. None of them have the center circle applique yet and they are the pointy blade kind not the rounded flowery kind. Some of the blocks look to have water stains. I have about 30 of them.
My dilemma…what should I do with them? Should I applique them as a big quilt? Use them individually? And just how do you turn the edges under? I have only made Dresden blocks with rounded petals and pointed petals using a method similar to this
Should I wash them?
I will wait patiently for answers while I drink my coffee.

Ohh I’m drinking coffee too.
I’d say test one by lightly spritzing and see if the stain comes out. Then if it does, then applique onto a bigger piece! Or use a few in random mixed up projects.
Or just keep thinking about it. That’ swhat I’m doing with my big pile of blocks.
I don’t know enough about quilting to advise on what to do with these, but a soak in oxyclean works well for removing stains from vintage fabrics and brightening them up. The blocks are very pretty fabrics – they will look fabulous in whatever you make from them.
